Children laugh for no reason, hundreds of times a day. As adults, though, most of us are so caught up in our day-to-day responsibilities, we have forgotten how to let go, be silly, and allow the ridiculous a spot on our priority list. On average, adults tend to laugh a mere 4-20 times per day. Even when adults do laugh, most are more likely to keep it light, thinking it is more socially acceptable to share a simple laugh of agreement, rather than dropping the inhibitions and letting go with a deep belly laugh. It's time to encourage some hearty laughter and have some fun. If we can manage it, research shows that there are a plethora of health benefits that will happily come with the territory.
